Doris Crall Obituary

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Doris Douglass Crall, 94, of Louisville, Ky., passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021.

She was born in Paragould to Edward and Jennie Douglass on Dec. 28, 1926.

Doris graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and began her career with The Jonesboro Sun in 1948.

She married Harold Crall, who was one of her favorite clients, and together they owned and operated City Drug Store in Jonesboro, until their retirement.

After the death of her husband in 2015, Doris moved to Louisville to live with her son.

Doris and Harold enjoyed their dance club and Glen Miller's music, and Doris most enjoyed dancing the jitterbug.

She loved reading, particularly daily devotionals and mysteries. She liked to quiz her kids on long car rides about state capitals and literary authors, she liked beer with her pizza, and she enjoyed playing bridge and attending her monthly lunch bunch.

She enjoyed traveling the U.S. and the world but always loved coming back home to her family and dogs.

Doris was a member of Southwest Church of Christ, Junior Auxiliary of Jonesboro and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

In addition to her husband, Harold Crall, Doris was preceded in death by her parents.

Doris is survived by her son, Dr. Doug Crall and wife Liza of Louisville; daughter, Lynn Crall Parrish of Washington, D.C.; and her sister, Ginger Ashley William of Sikeston, Mo.

Doris also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jennie Shelburne of Bentonville, Matthew Crall of Los Alamos, N.M., Grace Evans of Little Rock and Anastasia Parrish of Washington; three great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home followed by a private burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, mailing address: 400 East St., Jonesboro 72401, or to the charity of one's choice.
