JONESBORO - Henry Adams Kirtland Jr., of Jonesboro, a man of adventure and dedication, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on July 16, 1928, in Nashville, Tenn., Henry was the son of the late Henry Kirtland Sr. and Elizabeth Kirtland.
Henry's life was characterized by a love for aviation and an adventurous spirit. He dedicated 56 years of his life to Delta Airlines as a pilot, showcasing his skill and passion for flying. Beyond his career, Henry pursued numerous aerial pursuits, including skydiving, flight instruction and crop dusting.
A regular attendee of the Ridgeview Mennonite Church in Harrisburg, Henry found solace and community in his faith.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Kirtland, who stood by his side through a lifetime of adventures and joys.
Beyond his professional achievements and dedication to his faith, Henry cherished simple pleasures, such as driving with his wife and admiring the countryside. Together, they shared countless moments of serenity and beauty, embracing the wonder of the world around them.
A memorial service to celebrate Henry's life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Ridgeview Mennonite Church.
