DARDANELLE - Margaret Allene Barton, 88, passed away on Jan. 8, 2025, in Dardanelle. Born on Dec. 31, 1936, Margaret attended Couch High School where she met her future husband, Harvey Barton.
Margaret was a member of the Current River Hattitude Attitude Red Hat Society, and a devout attendee of Strawfloor Baptist Church. She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Richard and his wife, Lois; Larry and his wife, Angie; Jeff and his wife, Linda; a brother, Paul Clark of Utah; and brother-in-law, Berry Stafford and his wife, Pat.
Margaret had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harvey Barton; daughters, Peggy Wafford and Susan Dryer; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Barton, James Wafford, and Whitney Jones.
A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Highland Drive Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.

Margaret, was a very special friend, we shared many years working together, after she retired and moved to Doniphan her husband Gene passed away. She moved back to Jonesboro and moved across the street from me. We had many shopping trips and dinners out. May God bless your family in this time of sorrow.
