JONESBORO - Nancy Ann Henson, 86, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Friday, May 7, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born April 30, 1935, to Herbert and Mary Agnes Montell Cole in Jonesboro. Nancy graduated from Bono High School where she played basketball.
She was a very active lady who enjoyed crafting and bowling. She was a donor for the American Red Cross, active in Bible Study Fellowship International, AWANA and as a Vacation Bible School teacher.
Nancy was a guide at Constitution Island in New York. She also was a seamstress and made clothes for her family.
Nancy was a nursing graduate of Baptist Memorial Hospital school of nursing and played on the basketball and softball teams. She retired from nursing at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Being married to a military man, she made homes in West Point, N.Y., Fort Rucker, Ala., Fort Hood, Texas, and in Germany.
Nancy and GW loved to visit Hawaii. Wherever they lived, Nancy made it an educational adventure.
She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church for many years.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, GW Henson of the home; son, Jeff Henson (Maggie) of Georgia; daughters, Celeste Wasko (Frank) and Monica Hansen (Charles), all of Jonesboro; sister, Judy Cole of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Luke Hansen (Julia), Sarah Cox (Charlie), Anna Henson, John Hansen, Maggie Henson, Cooper Henson and Taylor Standke (Alex).
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 this evening at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, also at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Gray Falanga and Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Unity Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be designated by Walnut Street Baptist Church.
