CASH - Paula Mavis Lee passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. Paula was born in Jonesboro to Sid and Charlestine Settlemire Lee on May 15, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Charles and Blanche Settlemire and Anna Lee, all of Jonesboro.
She is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Lady of Heber Springs and Pennye (George) Best of Cash; a niece, Amy (Jay) Giles, of Heber Springs; a nephew, Bill (Pam) Holtzclaw of Madison, Ala.; three great-nieces, Sydney (Michael) Hays of Madison, Abygail (Alex) Koeberlien of Marietta, Ga., and Shelby Butler of Heber Springs; two precious great-great-nephews, Holt and Alden Hays of Madison; and four great-nephews, Tommy, Austin, Spencer, and Beau Butler. All these nieces and nephews were the light of her life.
Special cousins are Ron and Beverly Lee of Paragould, Elaine McDonald of Lago Vista, Texas, Debra Sterling of Jonesboro, and Susan Straub and Sharron Settlemire of Shreveport, La.
Paula attended Mrs. Collingsworth's "Little Red Schoolhouse" in Searcy when she was six years old. She also attended Cottage of Hope in Jonesboro, a school for special needs children.
Paula spent most days listening to music and watching DVDs or TV. She always loved vacations, going anywhere. She never met a stranger and loved everyone.
Her family was so blessed to have lived in communities, attending Camp Ground, Fisher Street and Swifton United Methodist churches, where so many friends were receptive to her special needs.
Her family appreciated the love shown by our Swifton Church and especially, Anna Grace, whom Paula insisted on calling "Gracie." She loved seeing little Avery at church and worried about her broken arm.
Life was simple for Paula. Her motto was to show love to everyone she met, knowing it would be returned many times over.
Our family feels that God has blessed our lives through our sweet sister. The blessings we have received because of her are much greater than could ever be returned. According to God, everyone has a purpose and Paula found hers, love, and all we need is love.
