GULFPORT, Miss. - Philip David Woodward passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, in Gulfport, Miss.
Philip left behind his beloved wife, Shay Woodward; his loving parents, Gary and Joanne of Baton Rouge, La.; his brother, Christopher, wife Mandy and nephews Jack and Benji of Baton Rouge; his sister, Stacey Cavanaugh and her husband Michael of Durango, Colo.; his Grandma Rhoda Mae Woodward, of Toronto, Ontario; his Uncle Brian Carrigan, Aunt Romni and cousins Brendan and Alex of White Rock, British Columbia. He also leaves behind many wonderful and caring friends.
Philip was born in New Westminster, British Columbia in 1983. He immigrated with his family to Jonesboro in 1992. He graduated from Jonesboro High School and then attended and graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. Philip spent his working life in banking. He started as a teller and ultimately worked as a Bank Secrecy Act manager.
Philip loved his daily gym workouts. His workouts gave him both strength and a solid sense of accomplishment. Shay and Philip loved to travel, especially enjoying trips to many National Parks and visiting Stacey and Michael and his parents in Durango.
Philip loved archeology and visiting ruins in the desert southwest. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his brother Chris.
Philip will be remembered for his kind heart and his love for his wife and family. His life will be celebrated with a simple family memorial. Simple because that is what Philip would want.

He is truly gone too soon. There was more life for him to live and experience. Phil impacted so many people in his life and created friendships and bonds that lasted a lifetime. He is missed and he is loved. I hope that there will be a gym in heaven and I can join him there one day.

Philip and I were co-workers at Iberiabank. I helped recruit Philip and was his partner in business development for his office. Philip always had a can do attitude and would be willing to help in anyway possible. I think the most of Philip and will always remember him at work, but mostly will remember our friendship we developed. Thinking of you my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Philip for more than 5 years during his time at Hancock Whitney. Everyone loved Philip for his dedication to work and his willingness to pitch in when others needed help or had questions. He was extremely approachable and always had a big smile no matter what was being discussed.
He is greatly missed, and we are certainly praying for his family and loved ones during this time.
