BROOKLAND - David "Ricky" Price of Brookland, departed this life on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at NEA Baptist Hospital at the age of 69. He was born on Nov. 29, 1955, in Jonesboro, to the late Orville Howard "Preacher" Price Sr. and Gracie Hedger Price.
A lifelong resident of Brookland, Ricky graduated from Brookland High School in 1973, where he played both basketball and baseball. He worked 23 years at Riceland and later spent 10 years at Smurfit-Stone. Of Baptist belief, Ricky lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love for family.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and sports, especially basketball. He also took great pride in his garden and found peace in caring for it. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Price; brothers, Orville Howard Price Jr., Jimmy Layne Price, and Lowell Price and wife Barbara; and his nephew, Mike Price.
Ricky is survived by his daughter, Sondra LeAnne Price (Brian Rusher) of Jonesboro; his sister, Lawanda Sue White (Danny) of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Cassie Price of Jonesboro; and his beloved grandchildren, Braden Christopher Price, Christian Taylor Scott, and Laynee MaKenzie Price. He also leaves behind two special friends, Patsy Price and Richard Shelby; and nieces and nephews, Jeremy White (Lynn), Lindsey Miller (Craig), Marcia Smart, and Vickie Climer.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Braden Price, Dennis Price, Lynn Price, Billy McGee, Greg Nall, and Rickey Glenn. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Williams, Brian Rusher, Richard Shelby, and the Brookland High School Class of 1973.
