JONESBORO - Warren Bellamy Shull, 86, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Nov. 18, surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Leilani Waldo Shull and Virginia Josephine Williams on Feb. 18, 1938, in Santa Barbara, California.

He grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Hollywood High School in 1956 where he earned an appointment at West Point Military Academy. In 1961, upon graduation, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. While attending West Point, Warren met the love of his life – Martie – on a blind date and they married on Jan. 27, 1962, in Springfield, Ohio. Their union (and the Air Force) would take them around the world giving them the opportunities to live in the United States, Europe, and Asia. They embraced each country, duty station, and culture wherever they lived. They never met a stranger and some of their dearest friendships were started at one of their assignments.

Warren was a man of honor and integrity who proudly served his country for 23 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force before retiring in 1984 from active duty as a Lt. Colonel. During his military career, he served five years as a Personnel Programs Officer, eight years as a Missile Launch Officer, six years as an Education & Training Staff Officer, and lastly, three years as Director of Personnel Management. Warren was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon, Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award ribbon with one silver oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. While on active duty, Warren received a Master's degree in Political Science from Temple University in 1970, MBA from University of Montana in 1971, his PhD from Bowling Green State University in 1975, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from University of Maryland in 1990. Upon retiring from active duty, Warren worked for the University of Maryland – European Division from 1984-1992 and University of Maryland – Asian Division in Japan from 1992-1994. After returning to the U.S., Warren taught at Black River Technical College and Arkansas State University as an Adjunct Professor.

In 1995, Warren moved to Jonesboro and began working as a CPA for Jones & Company Ltd. In 2004, he became the Business Manager for the Olivetan Benedictine Sisters at Holy Angels Convent before officially retiring in 2018. Giving back to the community was important to Warren and he graciously volunteered his time by serving. He was a member of the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and served on numerous committees. From 1997-2003, he was a member of the Accounting Principles & Auditing committee; 1999-2003, Administrative Issues Task Force; 1999-2002, Membership Services Task Force; 2001-2003, Legislative committee; 2005-2019, Continuing Professional Education and served as Chairman of the Committee from 2008-2010; and 2005-2018, Professional Ethics Committee and served as Chairman from 2014-2015. Warren was an active member of Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro and served as President from 2008-2009. He actively and faithfully participated in the annual Pop Stricklin Pancake Day Breakfast as a pancake flipper or drink server. In 1995, Warren participated in the Dinosaurs' Rule Committee, an exhibit sponsored by ASU Museum Advisory Council as well as the Lights on the Ridge Committee in 1996 sponsored by the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce. Warren also served on the St. Bernard's Governing Board and Craighead County Community Foundation.

Warren was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he proudly served for many years on the Finance Council, Fall Festival Finance Committee, and Blessed Sacrament School Endowment Board.

One of Warren's greatest enjoyments was spending time with family and friends. Having a vodka tonic or glass of red wine with one of Martie's amazing meals, along with stories and laughter, was the perfect way to create memories. Warren also loved to travel, read, play card games, do sudoku puzzles, and keep sports scores. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Warren was a die-hard Dodgers fan.

Warren is survived by the love of his life for 62 wonderful years, Martha Irene (Smith) Shull of Jonesboro; daughters, Mary "Kitty" Keeter (John Mark) of Georgetown, Texas, and Molli Beaverstock (Drew) of Jonesboro, and 3 beloved grandchildren whom he adored: Alex Keeter of Georgetown, Texas; Molly Keeter of Sterling, Virginia; and, Mac Beaverstock of Jonesboro. He is also survived by a very dear son by affection, Enzo Carrera Pizzal of Sacile, Italy, and his son, Francesco Pizzal, of Milan, Italy as well as his god-daughter, Isabella Jones, of Jonesboro.

There will be a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by a visitation on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Msgr. Scott Friend officiating. Interment at Blessed Sacrament Columbarium will follow at a later date.
