Alex Reale Obituary
Also surviving is his sister, Jamie Reale, of Manchester; stepbrother, Jon Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Anna Reale of Windsor Locks; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Alex was born Sept. 8, 1996, in Hartford, raised in Manchester and was due to graduate in June with the senior Class of 2015 at Manchester High School, where he was an honor student, and looking forward to attending the University of Connecticut in the fall. Alex was a beloved young man who touched everyone with his sweet smile. He was kind to everyone he met, polite, smart, talented and loving. He was an avid and accomplished guitar player, an editor of his school newspaper, The Harbinger, loved the New York Yankees and was a big UConn Huskies fan. Growing up, Alex played in the Manchester Little League and the Manchester Soccer Club and he took up boxing at the Manchester Ring of Champions. A piece of our hearts will forever be missing without him.
Family and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester.
The family of Alex wishes to have private services and burial at their convenience.

It was my genuine pleasure to spend one summer afternoon with Alex and my nephew a few years ago during what became a classic "guys' day out." I have fond recollections of good food, great banter, and watching Alex knock the cover off the ball at the batting cages. Even though I hadn't seen or spoken to Alex since then, I will not forget this young man's great spirit and good nature. My family and I offer you our most sincere condolences.

Condolences to Alex's family. I had the pleasure to work with Alex on the Manchester High's Harbinger newspaper, and was always impressed by his intelligence, depth, and curiosity. My favorite memory of Alex is the night I got him to dance. I knew he was shy about dancing but I just started dancing ridiculously and he joined in. He smiled so much that night. He has the best smile, but you had to work for it. One time when he was taking his reporter biography picture for Harbinger, I was cracking jokes, trying to get him to smile. Eventually he started laughing, especially after someone said that my jokes were lame. When he started smiling, that picture came out the best. It's still on MHS Redline. And I remember that we celebrated his birthday so many times during Harbinger, because we missed his actual birthday because school had just started and we didn't know yet. So we had cupcakes and brownies a few different times that year to celebrate. Each time we got to see his smile again. We really loved having him in Harbinger. The last story that he published was the Beller's Music one, which is really fitting because I know he loved the guitar and music in general. If any story had to be his last, I think that was a good one. I'm really sorry for your loss, and just know that he will be missed greatly by me and everyone else in Harbinger as well. He was a part of our newspaper family. I'm really sorry that I can't attend the wake, but know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family.
