Alfred Cloutier Obituary

Cloutier

Alfred "Claude" Cloutier, 90, passed away peacefully at home Monday, April 24, 2023.

Born Sept. 12, 1932 in Hartford, Claude was the son of the late Alfred and Bertha Cloutier. He was a 1950 graduate of Hartford High School. He is preceded in death by his wife and high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Cloutier, and survived by his son, Norman (Punta Gorda, Florida); and daughters, Sandra (Punta Gorda), and Michele (Boston, Massachusetts); and his grandchildren, Alexander (Aurora, Colorado), Danielle (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), and Katrina (East Windsor).

After serving in the Air Force, Claude trained as a monotype operator, and worked in the printing industry for 15 years. Videos of Claude explaining the monotype process are now displayed in the Vintage Radio & Communication Museum of Connecticut. He became well known in the East Windsor community as the owner-operator of the auto repair business Claude's Gulf and as an active member and office holder in his local rotary club. Claude and Jackie generously opened their home and heart to visitors including three high school exchange students who remained part of their extended family to this day. A member of the Coleman Farms community, Claude was quick to offer his help and share a laugh. He was beloved and respected by all who met him.

The family would like to thank all of his friends for their loving concern over the past few weeks, particularly his closest confidants Salvatore Saitta and Raymond Parker.

Your father was always so kind to my parents and me. I remember one Halloween meeting up to him and Jackie at Witch Meadow Camp Ground by accident. He was a priest and Jackie was a pregnant nun. My two toddlers were Red Devils. We had so much fun that evening. Norm, Sandy, and Michelle, you were so lucky to have to have them as parents! My sincere condolences to all of you. Fran Hager Roy

Sandy, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I know how close you were to him. I, too, lost my parents within a short time, and though we miss them , in my heart I know they had a good long life, are in a better place, and they are together...God bless you and your family. Stay well.

i knew Claude very well. I spoke with him within the last two weeks and e-mailed him frequently. I played golf with Claude. I had the pharmacy in East Windsor and had filled Claude' father prescriptions. He was a good friend and always a gentelman.
