Alvin Arrowsmith, 85, of Enfield, peacefully passed into Eternal Life surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family on December 18, 2023. He was born in Enfield on March 29, 1938, the beloved husband of the late Ulla Arrowsmith. Alvin was the son of the late John and Mildred Thresher Arrowsmith and was a resident of Enfield for most of his life.
Alvin worked as a Data Center Operations Analyst for United Technologies in East Hartford, where he retired with 35 years of service 1993. He is also an Army veteran, serving his country from 1958 to 1962. In his younger years, he enjoyed vacationing with his family on Cape Cod, attending family picnics, and playing off track Greyhound races at the Bradley Teletheather. He will be remembered to be a great conversationalist, storyteller, patriot, family man and expert on all thing's sports. In fact, his love for sports, especially baseball and football, would endure a lifetime. If he wasn't watching sports on television, he would enjoy talk radio outdoors with his beloved dogs Dana and Molly. Alvin had two children, the late Barry Arrowsmith and Randy Arrowsmith of Enfield and two grandchildren, Cody Arrowsmith and Trystyn Arrowsmith.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Irving Arrowsmith, Edward Arrowsmith, Thomas Arrowsmith, John Arrowsmith, Jr. and sister Edna Prickett Thomas Arrowsmith. Alvin is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Tami Reilly of Brimfield, Kathleen White of Hudson, NH, Bonnie Arrowsmith of Springfield, MA, Sally LaRusso of Chesire, Theodore Arrowsmith of Broad Brook, Adam Arrowsmith of Somers, Shane Arrowsmith of Longmeadow, MA, and Michael Arrowsmith of Murfreesboro, TN, David Prickett of Enfield, Kenneth Prickett of Enfield, Larry Prickett of VA, John Arrowsmith of NM, Jimmy Arrowsmith of NM, and Joan Arrowsmith of NM.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Burial will be held privately.
