Anton Christiansen Obituary
Born in Ovenum Foehr, Germany, on September 2, 1927, Tony was the son of the late August and Sophia (Peterson) Christiansen. He came to the United States in 1956, and proudly became a US Citizen in 1961. Tony and his wife were residents of Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Windsor Locks in 1980 to be closer to their grandchildren. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Windsor. Tony was an autobody technician for Lahann's Autobody shop in Smithtown, Long Island, and Quality Automotive in East Windsor. Tony enjoyed carpentry and spent most of his leisure time with fixer-up projects around his home, as well as tending to his garden. He enjoyed building birdhouses and model train displays for his grandsons.
A loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend, Tony is survived by his loving children, Ute Schroeder and her husband, David, of Windsor Locks, and Holger Christiansen and his wife, Carlena, of Indiana; his brothers, Jens Christiansen, Siegfred Christiansen, Georg Christiansen and Manfred Christiansen; his sisters, Katharina Christiansen and Marret Lueders; seven grandchildren, David Lukon, Vicki Kuracz, Victoria Lindsey, James Lindsey, DJ Lindsey, Jianna Schroeder and Aaron Schroeder; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Gee, Brian Kuracz, Matthew Kuracz, Alexis Lindsey, Garrett Lindsey, Aiden Lindsey, Brianna Schroeder; and many dear friends.
Family and friends may attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 465 Park Avenue, Windsor. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
