David Anderson Obituary

David A. Anderson, 71, beloved husband of the late Carol W. Anderson, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at Crestfield-Fenwood Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.

David was the son of the late Leonard and Lena (Mazoli) Anderson, and a lifelong Manchester resident. David was a Vietnam War-era veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served proudly on the USS Sandoval. He was the owner-operator of Anderson Brothers service stations and held the AAA franchise in Manchester and Bolton for over 30 years, a business he ran with his beloved brother Lenny. David was a member of the Manchester Elks Lodge 1893, where he and Carol enjoyed lodge activities and socializing with friends.

David is survived by his loving children, Kathleen McConnell, Brenda Hamilton (Ralph), Robert McConnell, Caroline Abele (David), and Sharon Torneo (Nick); his adoring grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, and Elizabeth Abele, Stephen McCann, Emily and Abby Acelin, Erin and Ryan McConnell, and Declan Torneo, who will all miss their Gramp; and his great-grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Audrey, and Grayson. David is also survived by his most loving and caring sister, Barbara A. Anderson; his nephews, Leonard Anderson III (Martha) and Kevin Anderson (Lucy), and their children; and by his loyal friend Mr. Al Packer.

David was an easygoing, quick-to-smile, steady man who cherished time spent with his family. He never refused a card game and always wanted to play one more.

David was predeceased by his daughter, Karen McCann; his brother, Leonard Anderson; and his nephew, Tom Anderson.

Calling hours are Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be private.
