David J. Cumbo
David "Dave" J. Cumbo, 67, of Broad Brook, loving husband of over 30 years of Jo Anne (Helenski) Cumbo, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Dave was born on September 28, 1955, in Hartford, son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Hotchkiss) Cumbo. He was raised in Hartford and Windsor Locks and was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School, Class of 1973.
Dave was a proud Teamster, retiring from Tilcon, CT, in 2018 as a truck driver and Union Steward. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #80 in Enfield.
He loved his family and friends immensely and always put their needs above his. Dave had a great sense of humor, was extremely generous, loyal, and always showed his expertise in any project he tackled. If you called for his help, he was there. To those of you who were lucky enough to know this incredible man, all our lives have been changed forever by him. We must all continue to keep his legacy alive by following Dave's examples of love and be there for your family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Jo Anne, he leaves his son Will (Amanda) Cumbo, his daughter Jennifer (Kyle) Bliesner, his six grandchildren: Logan, Landon, Levi, Autumn, Averie, and Will Jr., and his step-granddaughter Abigail. Dave also leaves his nephew C.J. and his lifelong friend Mike Katzman. In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother Jerrold Cumbo.
Dave's family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Broad Brook First Responders and Life Star Paramedics, along with Dr. Aw and the staff in the Neurology Unit of the ICU at Hartford Hospital, for the comfort of care they all provided to Dave and his family.
Memorial calling hours will be at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 10 am-12 pm.
