Helen Castle Obituary

Helen Louise (Taylor) Castle, 94, of Bloomfield, formerly of East Windsor, beloved wife for 67 years of the late George E. Castle, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

Helen was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Simsbury, daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine (Ray) Taylor. After George's return from WWII, the young couple married on Dec. 4, 1945. Shortly after, they built their own home on Woolam Road in East Windsor where they raised their four children. Helen and George were faithful members of the First Congregational Church in East Windsor. Helen had a beautiful voice and gave her time and talents to the Lord as a member of their choir. She sang many solos on Sunday mornings with the choir, and was also requested to sing at weddings. Her greatest joy was calling her children and grandchildren to personally sing "Happy Birthday" to them on their special day. Helen was fortunate to have lived out the last eight years of her life in the loving care of her daughter, Lois; her granddaughter, Meagan; and Meagan's family. Helen was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend who will be missed by so many. She will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring woman whose family always came first. Helen leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Helen loved to bake and made the best breads and Apple Pies. Every summer, she canned close to a hundred quarts of tomatoes to share with her family and friends, and everyone looked forward to them. Watching the birds outside her window gave her peace.

Helen leaves to celebrate her memory, her four children, Pat Davis and her husband, Rob of East Hartland, Janice Greer and her partner, Gregg Pellicer of South Daytona, Florida, Donald Castle and his wife, Carol of Enfield, and Lois Pinkham of Bloomfield; her former son-in-law, Howard Pinkham; her seven grandchildren, Christopher Davis and his wife, Dulcie, Matthew Davis and his wife, Stacy, Daniel Sayadoff, III and his wife, Kathy, Erica Hudgens and her husband, Bret, Stephanie Berry and her husband, Robert, Orion Pinkham and his wife, Shauna, and Meagan Salahu-Din and her husband, Abu; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Koby Davis, Ruthy, William, Clara, and Teddy Davis, Brianna and Daniel Sayadoff, IV, Darius Berry, Kinah and Elena Salahu-Din, and Nora and Finn Pinkham; her brother, Charles Taylor and his wife, Eleanor of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sister-in-law, Shirley Messenger; brother-in-law, James Little; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Hill and Ruth Dolson; her brother, Ralph Taylor; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Helen's family would like to thank Companions & Homemakers, especially her loving and compassionate caregiver, Londerlee.

Burial will be private in Granby Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance Fund, 12 Southwood Drive, Bloomfield, CT 06002.

I just wanted to say I was saddened to hear of Helen's passing. My Mom always spoke so well of her and they were good friends. Both my parents were friends of the family and I am still Don Castle's friend. Know that I send healing thoughts at this time to the whole family. Marianne
