Iona Anderson Obituary

Iona (Chase) Anderson, 75, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Norman C. Anderson, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1939, in Hartford, daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Sonnenberg) Chase. Iona grew up in the Elmwood section of West Hartford and was a graduate of Hall High School with the Class of 1957. She went on to graduate from Morse College with a degree in accounting. She was married to the love of her life, Norman Anderson in 1960 and together they settled in South Windsor. Iona was a Faith Healer who was Ordained in Religious Psychotheology by the Church of Holistic Theology. She was known for her strong psychic ability which she used to inspire and give people direction in their lives. Iona was also a member of Wapping Community Church. She had a great sense of humor and laughed often. She will be remembered as a woman who was both intentionally and unintentionally funny.

Along with her husband Norman of over 54 years, she leaves her children, Lisa L. Cote of Auburn, Maine, Cris H. Anderson and her husband, Tim Hayes, of Simsbury, and Troy C. Anderson and his wife, Lisa, of Vernon; a brother, Truxton Chase and his wife, Alice, of Springvale, Maine; six grandchildren, Mitchell, Brandan, and Dolan Cote, Nicholas Anderson, and Rachel and Sophie Hayes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of her family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Suite 310, Meriden, CT 06450 and/or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 74 Batterson Park Rd., Farmington, CT 06032.

Condolences to the immediate and extended members of the Anderson and Chase families. Her classmates from Elmwood Elementary, Talcott Junion High and Hall High School recognized Iona for her quite unassuming way, touching us all with her selfless giving and genuine friendship.
