Irene DeLisa Obituary

Irene (Tellier) Walsh DeLisa, 75, of Enfield, beloved wife of 53 years of Michael J. DeLisa, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Parkway Pavilion.

Irene was born July 1, 1934, in Nashua, N.H., and was the daughter of the late Alpherie and Marie (Duchesneau) Tellier. She was a graduate of Buckley High School, Asnuntuck Community College, and Roffler Hairstyling Academy. Irene worked at the Department of Aeronautics, was executive secretary to the president of Davis Dist., legal secretary to lawyer Marc Glass, a registered barber/ stylist at Michael's Hairstyling/ Salon of East Windsor, and a clerk at Southern Auto Auction. She also volunteered in the CCD program. Irene enjoyed sewing, knitting, ceramics, crafting, flower gardening, and, most of all, playing the organ. The most pleasurable times Irene spent were with her family.

Besides her husband, Michael, Irene is survived by her loving children, Thomas Walsh, and his wife, Donna, and Michael DeLisa Jr., all of Enfield, James DeLisa, and his wife, Sylvy, of Somers, John DeLisa, and his wife, Kim, of East Windsor, and Kevin Boudreau of Somers, who Irene always considered to be her fifth son; her cherished grandchildren, Richard, Justin, Patrick, and Kristopher; her great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Jordyn, and Tyler; and her special pet friends, Neiko and Heidi. She was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine.

Irene's family and friends may gather Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, for a funeral procession to Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.

My dear cousins,
Irene was a wonderful person and I will always have fond memories of her, especially when she came to see me in NYC for my BV competition in 1990. Im so happy I have so many great photos with her to treasure. She was a great Mom. I loved when she talked about her boys! And Uncle Mike she adored you. You were such a wonderful couple and great role model for couples. You both always were so happy. My only wish....I wish I had got to spend more time with her these last 10 years.
love you all,
cousin Lorain and Nick and Drew

Dear Brother Mike & Family,

I'm so sorry Sal and I can't be at the Mass for Irene on Friday.

As you know, it was at St. Augustine's Church in Hartford, CT, that I first met Irene, when she joined the Choir, where my husband Sal and I both sang (and where we met!). Right away I saw Irene as a future sister-in-law! At the time my brother Mike had just gotten out of the service, and was ready for romance. I convinced Mike to join the choir so that he could meet her, and sure enough, it was love at first sight! It wasn't long after that they said their marraige vows, right there in the same church and with the choir singing a High Nuptial Mass! Meeting there in church, you could say it was a match made in Heaven!

I'm so happy that I played Cupid because they had such a long and happy marriage and had such a loving family.

We're so happy she continued to sing God's praises at Holy Family church, along with her dearly beloved Mike.
She's in the Heavenly Angel Choir now, and Sal and I look forward to joining her there when our time on earth is done.

Love and prayers from Melina, Sal and the entire Intagliata Family in Palos Verdes, California.

Mike and family, I am so saddened you lost Irene. We had wonderful times as young mothers on Theodore St. She was a good friend and an amazing mother and not to forget such a wonderful cook! For a French fille she mastered the art of Italian cuisine for her adoring husband. I am so glad we met again a few years ago. Mike, please email me. Always your friend, Judy Greenwood Jensen
