Irma Asselin Obituary

Irma Asselin, 91, beloved wife of 61 years to the late Noel Asselin, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2016, at her home in South Windsor.

Born in Eagle Lake, Maine, on Aug. 7, 1924, she was the daughter of Edward and Laura Gagnon. In 1944, she moved to Hartford where she worked at the Arrow Hart and Underwood factories from the late 40s to the mid-50s. Noel and Irma were married at St. Anne's church in Hartford on Nov. 25, 1950. She was involved in bowling over the years belonging to the Woman's Bowling League and the Connecticut Valley Fun Bowling League at Ten Pin Bowling Alley in South Windsor for over 20 years. She played in two setback leagues for the seniors at the Charles Enes Community Center in South Windsor for over 25 years. She provided seamstress work for friends, family, and regular patrons at her home.

She is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife, Sharon Asselin, of South Windsor. She also has numerous nephews and nieces.

Friends and family members may visit to pay their respects on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.

Funeral services will be private.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to the SPCA of Connecticut.
