Janet Wojcik Obituary

Janet Frances (Dawson) Wojcik, 58, of Tanglewood Avenue, Enfield, died peacefully at home on Monday, June 19, 2006, after a heroic two-year struggle with lung cancer.

Born in Worcester, Mass., on March 1, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Dawson and Frances W. (Giard) Dawson. A former resident of Charleton, Mass., Janet had been an Enfield resident since 1981. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in education from Westfield State College. Janet was a teacher with the Springfield school system serving as a department chair in mathematics and workshop instructor. She received the Grinspoon Award for Teaching Excellence in 2004. In her leisure time, Janet enjoyed vacationing at the beach.

A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Janet is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, David J. Wojcik; her children, Jennifer L. Wojcik and her husband, Gary Stein, of Watertown, Mass., Michael D. Wojcik and his wife, Joanna Zatteiro, of Kennewick, Wash., and Kate L. Wojcik of Albany, N.Y.; her mother, Frances W. (Giard) Dawson of Oxford, Mass.; a brother, Steven R. Dawson and his wife, Eva, of Oxford, Mass.; several nephews and nieces and many dear friends.

Funeral services celebrating Janet's life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield Street. The burial will be private.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 22, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road.
