John S. Francis Sr.

John S. Francis Sr., 73, of Southwest Avenue, Windsor Locks, formerly of Enfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at his home.

He was the husband of Cynthia (Violette) Francis. Born in Old Town, Maine, John had been a resident of the Enfield community for many years before moving to Windsor Locks seven years ago. Prior to his retirement in 2006, he was employed for 33 years as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney. John was a devoted husband, and he and Cynthia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May. He was an all-around family man who enjoyed nothing better than a family gathering.

In addition to his wife, Cynthia, he is survived by his three children, Michelle Duncan and her husband, Robert, of Greenwood Springs, Miss., John S. Francis Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Suffield, and Kelly Presz and her husband, Jeff, of Agawam, Mass.; two brothers, James Thomas and his wife, "Dee," of Yucaipa, Calif., and Orland Clark of Old Town, Maine; and five adoring grandchildren, Alex Gaulin, Leah Duncan, Madeline and Kara Francis, and Jackson Presz. John was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of his newest grandchild, baby Presz.

Funeral services and burial in the Hazardville Cemetery are private.

Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, is assisting John's family with his funeral arrangements.

John's family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of donations to The American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045
