John Murphy Obituary

John Patrick Murphy
John Patrick Murphy, 44, of Eddington, Maine, passed away on August 20, at his home.
He was born in Hartford, CT, and grew up in Vernon, where he attended local schools. John went on to study at Central Connecticut State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2002. Most recently, he had been continuing his education at the University of Maine.
John proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army, retiring in 2022, as a Master Sergeant. For the last 14 years of his career, he was part of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. Among his many awards, he was honored with the Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; his parents, Kathleen and Kevin; his sister, Bridget; his brothers, Jeffrey (Annette), Andrew, and Gregory (Tracey); and his children, Mallory and Eli, of South Carolina.
John will be remembered for his dedication, courage, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon, CT 06066, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, has care of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in John's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. To leave a condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com .
