Jon Olechno Obituary

Jon S. Olechno, 66, of Manchester, passed away at home Friday, Feb. 12, 2016. His final wish, to pass at home, was made possible by the care and dedication to his comfort by his friends John "Jack" McCartan, Carol Carter, and his ex-wife, Cheryl Dias, and by Masonicare.

He was born in Bogno, Poland, May 15, 1949. Arriving in this country in 1962, he was very proud of his service to the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971. He recently retired from Capewell Components of South Windsor.

Survivors include his children, daughter Nicole (Olechno) Henry, her husband, Keith, and their son, Colton, from Saugatuck, Michigan; daughter Alexis Olechno and her son, Landon, of Manchester; and son Jon-Austin Olechno, also of Manchester. Jon was predeceased by his wonderful parents, Alfons Olechno and Stefanja (Zubski) Olechno.

A wake will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial of his ashes will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery, 360 Broad St., Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 555 Willard Ave., Newington, CT 06111, or Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492, or Make-A-Wish Connecticut, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.
