Joseph R. Wnuk

1963 - 2016

Joseph R. Wnuk, 53, of Bolton, loving husband of 22 years to Jill (Hammaker) Wnuk, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, after a six-month battle with cancer.

Joe was born July 5, 1963, in Manchester, son of Dorothy (Ursin) Wnuk of Ellington and the late Andrew M. Wnuk Sr. He was raised in Ellington, attended local schools, and was a graduate of Ellington High School, Class of 1981. Joe was an automotive mechanic and had worked for several dealerships in the area. Joe was a man who loved to be outdoors, whether it was gardening or fishing and hunting. He always found peace outside, and he is enjoying that peace now.

In addition to his wife, Jill, and

his mother, Dorothy; he is survived by his three children, Marissa Wnuk Mendes and her spouse, Halston, of Bradford, New Hampshire, Joseph R. Wnuk Jr., and Danielle Wnuk, both of Bolton; his former wife, Laurie Chesanek, of Ellington; and his five siblings, Andrea Bachiocchi, of Ashford, Andrew M. Wnuk Jr. and his spouse, Lita, of Willington, Michael Wnuk and his spouse, Tina, of Portland, Thomas Wnuk and his spouse, Kenneth Aspell, of Brentwood, California, and Paul Wnuk and his spouse, Jackie, of West Chazy, New York. Joe also leaves his in-laws, David and Elizabeth Hammaker, of Rocky Hill; his sister-in-law, Daerdra Pawelec and her spouse, Ted, of Willington; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous good friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, Saturday, Jan. 7, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a service to begin at 4 p.m. Joe's wishes were for everyone to wear jeans and T-shirts to the visitation, as he certainly didn't like to dress up!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
