Leonard Morganson Obituary

Leonard Alan Morganson
Leonard Alan Morganson, 78, of Farmington, died peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Amberwoods of Farmington, surrounded by his family. Leonard was born in Stafford, CT, on February 19, 1947, son of the late Frank and Edna (Parker) Morganson. He grew up in Ellington and was a graduate of Ellington High School. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served our country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the service, he went to work at MetLife in Hartford selling Life Insurance. Leonard later followed work into the banking industry selling savings bank life insurance at the Norwich Savings Bank. He worked in the banking industry for many years, working his way up to a senior vice president, before leaving the industry due to health-related issues.
Leonard loved to boat and fish with his brother DuWayne. He enjoyed being outdoors and spent much time camping with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his fantastic sense of humor and his captivating stories.
He leaves his daughter, Laurel J. Morganson and her partner Timothy Strmiska of Canterbury, siblings, Patty Ann Leach and her husband Ronnie of Crystal Lake, Ronnie Morganson and his wife Dawn of Ellington, Gary Morganson and his wife Pat of Southington, Marion Wilkinson and her husband Bob Sokoloski of East Granby, sister-in-law, Ellen M. Morganson of Ellington, two grandchildren whom he adored, Abbi Legler of Moosup, and Hannah Legler of Canterbury, and two great-grandchildren, Ashton Terre and Lilith White. He was predeceased by his brothers, DuWayne, Richard, and Bobby, sister, Linda Ellis, sister-in-law, Pat Morganson, nephew, Tom Conner, and niece, Rachel Cuff.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at the Ladd- Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte.83) in Vernon. A funeral service with Military Honors will follow in the funeral home beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 and/or Parkinsons' Disease Foundation.
