Michael Nelson Obituary

Michael Joseph Nelson, 44, of Ellington, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 6, 2021.

Michael was born in Rockville to Therese Schnoor and Joseph Nelson on Feb. 1, 1977. He attended Vernon schools in his younger years and graduated from Ellington High School. He worked as a vital records scanner for Scan Optics in Manchester prior to his death.

Michael is survived by his son, Jacob Nelson of Ellington; sisters Trish Nelson of Ellington; Stacy Swegman and her husband, Andrew, of Somers; and his mother, Therese Schnoor of Ellington. He also leaves behind nephews Justin Nelson of Ellington and his partner, Loukas Diakoloukas, of Enfield; Jordan Nelson and Shawn Natale of Ellington; niece Jenna Swanson and her companion, David Woodrow, of Willimantic; and great niece Annabella Nelson, also of Ellington, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael was a diehard Yankees fan, member of the APA Pool League and was an amazing pool player, loved karaoke, and had a passion for music. His quick wit, sarcasm, and goofy sense of humor was present in every conversation, bringing laughs to all he talked to. His friends would describe him as the life of the party. Michael was surrounded by many great friends, and for that he was truly blessed. Michael's one and only true love and his greatest accomplishment was his son, Jacob.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Tom W. Schnoor, on Jan. 30, 2015. Tom took on the very special role as a Dad to three children as his own and loved each one of them until his very end.

Memorial services will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the American Legion, 114 West St., Vernon, Pastor Jeanette Williams officiating.

Memorial donation may be made to: Become Part of the Solution, c/o Union Church, 3 Elm St., Vernon, CT 06066.

Mike. It's just too soon for you to go. I remember so much from when we were young. We were thick as thieves. From school, to Bumpers, you were always there. You will always be part of the fabric that made up my youth and I'm so sorry to see you go. Rest easy, friend. <3

They forgot to mention that Mike was a great cook. I worked with him for years and I remember he would make everyone his famous French toast with homemade whipped cream. If mike was your friend, he was your friend, if he wasn´t well...RIP old buddy
