Dear Connie and family:

When I arrived in CT from Alaska in 1972 Paul was the first controller to befriend me. He greatly assisted me during the training process and thus began a special friendship that transcended anything that attempted to come between us over the years. I will always consider Paul to be my BEST friend because he was 'always there' for me and I did my best to reciprocate. During the last decade it became very difficult for us to communicate due to my hearing loss and Paul's speech difficulties. Connie, you were always there to assist and I will be forever grateful.

Only a handful of people are aware that Paul was solely responsible for preventing a disaster between
two commercial aircraft during a snowstorm with greatly reduced visibility. This occurred shortly after the disaster at Tenerife in 1977
that claimed 583 lives. Paul's experience and professionalism determined that a pilot's report was
erroneous and he took action to prevent
what could have been a horrendous crash between two commercial aircraft. This situation was never brought to light or made public by the 'agency' as it would have been a political disaster. Paul was indeed a HERO in every sense of the word who was never acknowledged or given his due.
He will always be my hereo and I will forever cherish the fond memories of our times together. Although his physical body may have changed form his spirit will forever be an important part of my life.

My most sincere condolences to you on the loss of a wonderful husband and father.
