Renée M. Meucci
1965 -2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce Renée Marie Meucci, (née Cantrell), 59, of Vernon, CT, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Renée was born to Bruce Cantrell and Yvette (Bedard) Cantrell in Hartford, CT in 1965, the middle child of five girls. She was a dutiful Catholic, as an active parishioner of Church of the Assumption for decades and a graduate of East Catholic High School. Renée was a dedicated employee for the State of Connecticut for 35 years, beginning her career in the Department of Children and Families and retiring as Unit Supervisor in Unclaimed Property.
Renée is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul G. Meucci, her daughter Katie Meucci, and son Paul Meucci and his wife Caitlin, and grandchildren Wilder and Cal Meucci. She is also survived by her mother Yvette Cantrell, her sister Cheryl Dec, her brothers-in-law Jeffrey Warner, Durward Croft, Richard (Todd) Bertussi, her sister-in-law Ann Johnston and husband Gregory, her brother-in-law Joseph (Skip) Meucci and wife Karen, brother-in-law Donald Grubbs and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Bruce Cantrell, her sisters Denise Cantrell, Celeste Cantrell, and Andréa Bertussi, her in-laws Gabriel and Helen Meucci, and sister-in-law Gail Turner and brother-in-law Stephen Turner.
Renée truly lived by "it is more blessed to give than to receive". Her generosity knew no bound. Renée was a beautiful soul, always involved in assisting family and friends; one of her most favorite hobbies being baking, known for her special cupcakes which were always requested. Renée's radiant smile lit up any room she entered. She lived life to the fullest, a loving mother and grandmother, as she especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends, as well as her beloved dogs, Munson and Yogi. Despite living in a household of Yankee fans, Renée held true to her treasured Red Sox and UConn. Together with a group of friends and family, Renée and Paul were avid travelers who enjoyed over 30 cruises and trips around the world, the highlights being Italy, Alaska, Iceland, and throughout the Caribbean.
Renée's passing comes following a courageous fight against Frontotemporal Dementia with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (FTD w/ PSP) over the past few years, during which time her husband, Paul, was a devout and impeccable caregiver by her side. The family would also like to specifically thank Ann Johnston, Cheryl Dec, Yvette Cantrell, and Jon Lane for their help and care of Renée.
Her family will receive loved ones on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 4-7 PM at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 21st at 10 AM at The Church of the Assumption, 27 Adams Street South, Manchester, followed by burial at Mount Saint Benedict's Cemetery, Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memoriam to Renee at The Cornerstone Foundation of Rockville at
