My sincere condolences to your family. I remember your Dad when I was in Mrs. Goodwin´s 5th grade class circa 1974 across the hall, as a kind, smiling, steady presence we could count on.

After fourth grade my family moved across town to a new home. I began fifth grade with trepidation, but my fears were quickly allayed not by meeting new schoolmates, my fear was eased by meeting my fifth grade teacher, Mr. Farr. Mr. Farr knew that I was new to the school, so he took it upon himself to introduce me to some of my new classmates. I now had some new friends and the school day became easier. As the year went on Mr. Farr taught with skill, handled problems in class with kindness and tact, and always treated his students with respect and compassion.
Many of my fellow classmates from other classes were jealous of the fact that us "lucky ones" had Mr. Farr as our teacher, but of course we all knew just how lucky we were. My dad and I went into Farr's Sporting Goods for fishing tackle when I was in high school. Mr. Farr was behind the counter. I said "hi Mr. Farr, its so good to see you!" He came around the counter and said "hi Ken, it's great to see you too." I introduced Mr. Farr to my dad, and they talked a while, and we got our tackle and said goodbye. The next year I was driving and I often stopped in to say hi to Mr. Farr, whether making a purchase or not. He once asked me why I stopped in with nothing to buy, and I am sure I made his day when I told him "I stop in because you were the best and nicest teacher I ever had!"
