Robert Winter Obituary

Robert C. Winter, 73, of Suffield, beloved husband of Deborah (Bajek) Winter for 50 years, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 25, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Annamae (Clark) Winter. A lifetime resident of Suffield, he was a communicant at the former St. Joseph Church in Suffield. Bob was creative in both mind and spirit. He Co-owned and operated Winter Sign with his wife Debbie for 30 years, creating unique and custom signs. He attended Paier College of Art in Hamden, and continued his creative endeavor through his many wonderful landscape paintings.

He enjoyed gardening and caring for his yard when a paintbrush wasn't in his hand. He also volunteered many hours at the Hartford Audubon Society's Lewis Farm Bird Sanctuary in Suffield, where he maintained the trails and access area, providing a safe and beautiful environment for visitors to explore.

In addition to his wife Debbie, Bob is survived by a son John Winter; his beloved grandson, Matthew Winter; a brother David J. Winter and his wife, Debbie; a sister, Ann DiLorenzo, and her husband; John, all of Suffield. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Bob was predeceased by a brother, Brian T. Winter.

Visitation will be held from 10: a.m. to noon, with a short prayer service to follow at noon on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Burial is private.

We enjoyed knowing Bob through his care and hard work at Lewis farm. We hiked the trails for many years that he kept cleared and open. The farm will miss him as everyone will! So sorry.
