Ronald Dextradeur Obituary

Ronald E. Dextradeur
Ron Dextradeur died on September 28 at the age of 76 while visiting beautiful Paradise Valley, Montana. Born in Hamden, he was a long-time resident of Coventry where he lived with his wife Joy and his beloved sons, Justin Dextradeur and his wife Heather Bryce of North Carolina and Ian Thomas Dextradeur and his partner Chelsea Hunt of Montana. He also leaves behind an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Ron taught at Tolland High School for 32 years and retired from teaching to work for Homeland Security for nearly 8 years, training airport screeners after 9/11. Ron was a jack of all trades and master of some. He was a collector of many things and whenever neighbors or friends needed anything they would seek out Ron to see if what they needed was in his inventory. Most likely it was.
Ron had the gift of gab and would talk to anyone. He will be sorely missed but will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. There will be no services at this time but there will be a celebration of Ron's life with family and friends in the near future. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Ron's memory please consider a Hurricane relief fund.
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little bit better, whether a healthy child, a garden patch, or redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

Class of `83 student, Mr Dex was one of the kindest teachers I knew at THS. Wish I got to see him before he passed as he left warm memories of my Senior year. Rest in Peace, sir, my condolences to the family.

So sad to hear of Ron´s passing. He helped launch my career as a public school teacher and for that I´m forever grateful. He also inspired my love for tag sales and finding "treasures" along the road on trash days. I´m now the "Ron" of my family and friends who need something from an old bike to a kitchen table or a barely working snowblower. He lives on fondly in my heart.

I remember having Mr D as a teacher, who could easier be distracted to talk about current events. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
