Sandra Lee Shortridge Berrios

Sandra Lee (Lanphear) Shortridge Berrios, 72, of Waterbury and formerly of Ellington, beloved wife of Jose J. Berrios, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at St. Mary Hospital in Waterbury.

Born in Hardwick, Vermont, the daughter of the late Richard and Doris (Colbeth) Lanphear, she grew up in Pennsylvania and lived in Ellington most of her adult life before moving to Waterbury two years ago. Sandra worked for the state of Connecticut, Department of Corrections, for 20 years before retiring as a lieutenant in 2007. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Richard MacQueen and his wife, Sherrie, of Oklahoma, Frank Levick and his wife, Angel, of Vernon, and James Shortridge, of Manchester; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary Lanphear and his wife, Carol, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Bonnie Mercier and her husband, Larry, of Vermont; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Julius Shortridge.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Ave., Rockville. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
