Thomas Schmidt Obituary

Thomas Schmidt, Sr.
May 28, 1968 - March 2, 2024
Thomas Schmidt, Sr., 55, of Enfield, CT, passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2024. Tom was born in Hyannis, MA and moved to Clearwater, FL, at a young age. He was the son of the late Judy Londers and Walter Webb. Tom attended Countryside High School in FL, and went on to have a 17-year career with the State of Connecticut, Department of Corrections.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was known for his love of dancing and singing to his favorite '90s music. Tom is survived by his daughter, Christina Wood of Tallahassee FL, sons, Thomas Jr, Joshua, and Joel Schmidt of Enfield, CT, and Paul Weathersby, whom he called Dad. The family would like to thank the support of his friends and extended family, as well as his co-workers during this difficult time.

I worked with Officer Schmidt at Northern Correction Institution for many years. He was always genuine and forthright, and a good officer to work with. Even when we weren't in the same unit, I would call him and speak with him or go check him on post. Definitely one of the good guys.
I remember when my daughter was first transferring into UCONN, and I was moving her there that day, he called me to check in on me to see how things were going, as he was missing his kids too.
Tommy's number and photo are still in my phone, and that's my way to keep his memory alive.
God has you in His care Tommy. I know your family, friends, and co-workers will never forget you man, because whatever you went through, you still kept going until God was ready. See you when I see you brethren!

Tom was my nephew and I knew him from birth . I was always aunt Patti and he said always I love you . He always spoke about the love he had for his daughter and three sons . Tom was lost after my step sister died as she was his and hers best friend . Judy raised him alone . They spoke 2 to 3 a day though she lived in Fl and he followed his wife at the time Jody to Connecticut . Family was always important to him and he never got over my father his step grandfather taking him to the store and telling him to pick any bike he wanted out . He always talked about that . He loved to sing karaoke and was very good . Bobby brown Don´t be Cruel . We sand a few duets together for years . He followed my shows every week until he wanted to be a cop . He went to the police academy but eventually things changed he met the love of his life and became a correctional officer . I will miss my boy but know I´ll see him again . Condolences to all his children and the many people his life touched . He was a good soul ! Love you Tommy . Aunt Patti aka pattik

Bill and I have known Tom since he and Jodi met over 25 years. Jodi had moved down from Connecticut to start a new life. And BOY did she. Three times to be exact. Tom was always respectful to my family. He loved his boys tremendously. His children ment the world to him. Sometimes in life things happen in a person world and they may not be able to always be around every day but that doesn't mean every day you are not thought of with love . Tom will be missed by many people. More than I think he ever thought. Tom, your soul is free and you are with God. You are truly blessed.

I've known Tom for about 25 years. His children are my Great Nephews. Tom loved his children very much and enjoyed going to their sporting events. He will be missed very much but the memories of him will keep him close. Rest in peace Tom.
