Zachary Ramsdell Obituary

Zachary R. Ramsdell "Zach," 30, of Enfield, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Zach grew up in Enfield and lived for a time in Boston and Lowell before returning to Connecticut. Zach was born Dec. 10, 1987, in Springfield, the beloved son of the late Jeffery Ramsdell and Kathryn (Smith) Lavallee and her husband David.

In addition to his mother he leaves behind his brother, Christopher Ramsdell of Enfield; grandparents, Jean and John Sharon, Diana Ramsdell of Enfield, and Susan Smith of Longmeadow; great-grandmother, Ruth Weber of Longmeadow; aunts and uncles, Ellen Ludaman, Robert and Ginger Smith, William and Eva Smith Enfield, and James Smith of Longmeadow, Annette and Andy Ramsdell of Enfield, Laura Ramsdell Dailey of Maryland, Lynn Ramsdell of Florida. He will be forever missed by his niece Tegan; and by his many cousins, Joshua, Bree, Hannah, Ryan, Megan, Chelsea, Cameryn, David, Taryn, Mackenzie, Nate, Dan, Owen, and Michaela. Zach was predeceased by grandfathers, Robert Smith and Alan Ramsdell.

To those who knew Zach he was a kind, loving, and caring person, never quick to judge anyone. He was known for his sense of humor. He loved making other people laugh because he knew laughter was the best medicine. Zach was a devoted friend to all that knew him.

Zach excelled at basketball and soccer, going to tournaments, and enjoying the camaraderie with his teammates. Zach also loved fishing and hanging out with his best friend Steve.

Zach also suffered terribly with mental illness, unfortunately he turned to drugs to fight his demons. Mental illness and drug addiction go hand in hand. Zach was living proof of that. Zach is no longer suffering on this earth, he is in the loving arms of his savior Jesus Christ. He never lost faith in his God.

John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, will live even though they die; and who ever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this."

Relatives and friends may gather with his family Sunday April 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Somers Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Roadway of Hope CT Inc., P.O. Box 2304, Meriden, CT 06450, or Tri Circle, Inc., P.O. Box 234 Wallingford, CT 06492.
