David Walker Obituary

David M. Walker 1958—2021
David (Dave) M. Walker passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2021 at the age of 63 after a hard-fought battle with liver cancer; his close friend and companion Deborah Stenback and his brother Steve at his side.
Dave was a lifelong resident of Freeport, IL; the beloved son of Orland and Jean Walker, and grandson of Florence Rowen. He was a graduate of Freeport High School and had a long career in the automotive industry helping many area residents buy and sell cars. He was also a talented musician who sang and played drums and keyboards with the Fat Cats and Newport Project bands. Dave loved music, cars, cartoons, and a good joke. He made friends easily, could fix anything, and was always up for a bonfire or a boat trip on the Mississippi River. His friends and family will miss his kind heart, quick wit, and plentiful sense of humor.
Dave is survived by his close friend and companion Deborah Stenback, his brother Steve Walker (Wendy), two nieces, and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the FHN Foundation Hospice Fund. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com

I worked with Dave at Hartman T.V. & Appliances. We have been friends since the '70s. I loved his humor & enjoyed watching him sing and play the drums. We would go to WI and listen to one of my favorite Singer-Songwriters from Minocqua WI Tuck Pence. I will miss you Dave and am so sad to hear of your passing.

Lot of fond memories of Dave. Weekends on the river, attending Fatcat concerts, working together in 'Rent a Husband' handyman company. Shared many a laugh watching Tom and Jerry or The Roadrunner comedies. He helped me survive a divorce and keep my smile. Never completely lost touch even after moving away. Stopped in to see him a few months back, was shocked and saddened to hear of his condition but he was hopeful of finding a donor. His incredible humor and quick wit will be missed by many. All I can say is, If you see Gloria, tell her I said hi. Praying for you both.

We have known Dave for a long time. He worked for me as a service advisor for a few years. He was always in a good mood and could make any situation funny. I think all of his friends will agree that their lives are better from knowing Dave. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. RIP Mr. FAT CAT.

Steve, so sorry to learn of Dave´s passing. I had reconnected with Dave a few years ago on FB when he was selling Uncle Joe´s Jag. Many fine childhood memories from FCC to Dave, your dad and Joe Sr. and Jr. on Joe´s nice Formula on the River. Had no idea that he was so ill.

Rest In Peace Dave. Had some fun times with you and Calvin back in the day. You used to do what you called the bird. I remember you showing my mom that. She told you you are nuts. Then Calvin did his rubber finger. She then said you both are nuts lol. Have good memories of you. Back in the cb days you went by Bull Moose. People will miss your whit and your fun loving Spirit.
