Gary Moore Obituary
Gary L. Moore, 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Freeport, IL on Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born in Freeport, IL on July 30, 1951, to Shirley (Campbell) and Grant Moore. He graduated from Winnebago High School and studied mechanics at Highland Community College. Gary married RoseMary Walz on February 16th, 1974. His employment included Micro Switch, J.H Patterson Lumber and Berner Foods. Most recently, Gary worked at ABC Supply in Rockford as the warehouse supervisor. Gary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was an accomplished carpenter, fisherman, bowler and dart player. He was a lifelong fan of Chicago Bears football and NASCAR. He was a regular at the Beltline Café, and always eager to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Gary was a proud father of 3 children: Brian (Heather) Moore, Jennifer (Robert) Dixon, and Rebecca (Josh) Miller, and grandfather to eight grandchildren: Myles and Marlee Moore; Zevrené, Jhavian, Kymaira and Nalia Dixon; and Elizabeth and Grant Miller. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, RoseMary; 3 children and 8 grandchildren; mother Shirley (Campbell) Moore of Freeport; Sister Colleen (Mark) Kloepping and brother Monte (Tracy) Moore of Freeport; brother William (Ronda) Moore of Winnebago; sister-in-law Joan Woods, brothers-in-law James and George (Diane) Walz of Freeport; brother-in-law Thomas (Linda) Walz of Palatine. Preceding him in death were his father, Grant Moore; father-in-law, Raymond Walz; mother-in-law, Helen Walz; sister-in-law Barbara Krieger.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18th, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 17th at Schwarz Chapel Funeral Home at 608 S. Park Blvd. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
