JEAN M. MESSER, 90 MOUNT MORRIS - Jean M. Messer, 90, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, in KSB Hospital, Dixon, IL. Jean was born December 19, 1923, in Freeport, IL the daughter of Michael and Magdalina (Trapp) Pontius. Jean graduated from Aquin High School, Class of 1941. She married Alvin Messer on March 9, 1946, in Freeport, IL. Jean was a wonderful mother and always had time for others. She was proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always giving advice and caring words. Jean is survived by son, Edward (Kimberlee) Messer, Mt. Morris, IL; 2 daughters, Doris Doeden, Polo, IL and Suzanne (Tim) Kinmon, Sterling, IL; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Doeden, Polo, IL, Laura (Phil) Gaulrapp, Polo, IL, Nathan (Shannon) Messer, Surprise, AZ, Matt (Kate) Messer, Polo, IL, Zack (Christina Engberg) Johnson, Polo, IL, Hilary (Cory Love) Johnson, Dixon, IL, Kristy Kinmon, Sterling, IL, Kenny (Autumn) Kinmon, Overland Park, KS; 15 great-grandchildren, Patrick (Lindsey) Doeden, Spencer Doeden, Harper Gaulrapp, Lacy, Aaliyah, and Reece Johnson, Aiden and Liam Messer, Jacob and Joe Reusch, Haleigh Geerts, Jeremiah and Jadyn Settles; daughter-in-law, Debbie Messer, Surprise, AZ; special friends, Curt (Gloria) Ennenga and Doreen, Leah, Brittany. Jean is preceded in death by parents; husband, Alvin; son, John; brother, Robert Pontius; grandson, Shaun Messer; great-grandson, Joey Geerts; son-in-law, Jim Doeden. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7th, in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL, with Father Joseph Nail. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday, October 7th, in Finch Funeral Home. Memorials St. Jude's and/or Mt. Morris Public Library.
