Michael A. Runte 1965—2016
Michael A. Runte, 50, of Freeport died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born December 11, 1965, in Freeport; the son of Gerald and Patricia (Libby) Runte. He married Terri Barker September 10, 1988. Michael was a farmer. He enjoyed mowing, fishing, the outdoors, and especially spending time with his family, friends, and dogs. Michael is survived by his wife, Terri Runte of Freeport, IL; daughter, Brandy (Doug) Quinn of Freeport, IL; brother, Dan (Mindy) Runte of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Tricia (Roger) Truckenmiller of Jenison, MI; granddaughter, McKinley Quinn; and his dogs, Brody, Ivy, and Tank. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and his brother, Bob Runte.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Rock Hollow Hunting Club. Cremation rites have been accorded. I went to grade school with Mike and have very fond memories. My condolences to all his family. Dan, I have always meant to stop by the Bigfoot and say hello. I am so sorry to hear about your brother.

Mike was a great friend, always had a smile. He was much loved and will be missed. Mike and Gene have probably joined forces and between them fixing everything or building anything God needs. Will miss him on my trips to Freeport.
