Norman Templin

NORMAN (NORM) C. TEMPLIN, 75 LENA - Norman (Norm) C. Templin, 75, of Lena passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Provena St. Joseph Center, Freeport, IL. He was born on July 4, 1938, the son of John and Alice (Raetz) Templin. He graduated from Leaf River High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served our country in the United States Army. He was employed by the Freeport Journal Standard, then became a partner of the Northwestern Illinois Farmer, and later purchased the paper being the publisher and editor of this farm family newspaper. Being a journalist was his life as well as antiques, music, reading and gardening. Norm is survived by his brother, Dwayne of Polo, IL, sister, Delores (Jess) Pryor of Belvidere, IL and brother, Darrell (Kay) of Rockford, IL. He fondly leaves 7 nieces and nephews, Pamela and Suzanne Francis of Rockford, IL, Johna Templin of Mt. Morris, IL, Michele Spoden (Larry) of Roscoe, IL, Marsha Pryor of Rockford, IL, Mark Pryor of Roscoe, IL and Darrell Templin of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mavis (Francis); brother-in-law, Emil (Tim) Francis; and sister-in-law, Arlene Templin. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service on Saturday. Cremation rites were accorded and graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name for the Stephenson County 4-H Foundation and the Stephenson County Farm Bureau.
