Steven Harnish

STEVEN J. HARNISH, 61 FREEPORT - Steven J. Harnish, 61, of Freeport died Monday, August 26, 2013, at FHN Memorial Hospital Freeport. Born March 26, 1952, in Freeport; he was the son Norbert and Marie (Erdmeier) Harnish. He was a 1970 graduate of Freeport High School, and a lifetime resident of Freeport. In November 1971, he became a member of the Iron Workers Local 498. He worked as an iron worker until retiring in July 2008. He did a lot of work at the Byron Nuclear Plant and on many of the highway bridges. Steve was a longtime member of ABATE and HOG. He enjoyed motorcycle touring, touring a lot of the National Parks with his brother. Surviving are his mother of Freeport; brother, Dennis Harnish of Spokane, WA; two nieces and a nephew; three great-nieces and four great-nephews; two aunts, many cousins. A special thank you to Stacey for her special care given to Steve and the rest of the family. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, at Walker Mortuary, Freeport. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial has been established in his name for ABATE of Illinois Freeport Chapter and Iron Workers Local 498.
