Earned master's degree in music education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Married Leona Anderson on May 3, 1953, in Omaha. Taught music in St. Paul and Wymore. Member: Sky Knights; 702nd U.S. Air Force Band, Korean War.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 O St. The Rev. Jay Schmidt. Visitation: 5 p.m. Thursday until services Friday, funeral home. Memorials to Tabitha Hospice, 4720 Randolph St., Lincoln 68510. Condolences or personal reflections may be left at www.roperandsons.com.

Dear Leona & Family,
My heart & prayers are with you on this sad day. What I remeber the most about Al was that I never saw him without a smile on his face, usually humming a tune--even during setup of the state fair booth. My Bernina and I will think fondly of him each time we set out to create again!
