Dianne (Getscher) Ely passed away peacefully on her 78th birthday, October 22, 2025, with her daughters and granddaughter by her side.

Born October 22, 1947, at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, Dianne was the daughter of Dr. Phillip and Naomi (Hartman) Getscher. She received her early education at Blessed Sacrament School and Holy Family School before graduating from Pius X High School. Dianne continued her studies at Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado, and earned her BA degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, later completing her paralegal certification in Lincoln.

Dianne's diverse professional career reflected her many interests and talents. She served as a community liaison and mental health researcher for the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute, worked as a travel agent and real estate appraiser, and held paralegal positions with the Nebraska Attorney General's office and various Lincoln law firms. For 25 years, she dedicated herself to technical processes at Lincoln City Libraries, where her attention to detail and commitment to service made a lasting impact.

A devoted Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, Dianne never missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved team. She found joy and fulfillment in numerous artistic pursuits, including painting, drawing, knitting, quilting, sewing, and glass beading. She loved animals, the ocean, and travel. She treasured every opportunity to visit the beach. Above all, Dianne cherished the time spent with her beloved daughters and granddaughter, Sofia, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Phillip and Naomi Getscher, and her sister, Donna Ewing. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Ely of Providence, Rhode Island, and Kaitlin Galliani (Mirko) of Brooklyn, NY; her granddaughter, Sofia Galliani; and her sister, Cheryl Frizzell of Lincoln, NE.

Memorials in Dianne's honor may be made to: Shriners Children's Hospital, St Louis, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church. A rosary will be said prior to Mass at 10 a.m. Condolences may be sent to www.bmlfh.com. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home.
