Jenny, Mackenzie and the Nelson Family: My deepest sympathy on the loss of Charlie. I commanded the 134th LRSD and served with him when he first enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was an exceptional soldier and role model for many, he will be greatly missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Charlie. I haven’t seen Charlie since my childhood, but the descriptions I read here match my memories. I pray that God may bring Gene, Bonnie, Chris, Jenny & Mackenzie and the rest of our family peace in the coming days.

I have always admired Charlie and know that his life has been an inspiration to all who know him. I take comfort in knowing he is now with God and that we will all see him again. My prayers are with Jenny, Mackenzie, Uncle Gene, Aunt Bonnie and the rest of our family.

A perfect grandson I was so proud of and one that always said I love you when he came over and when he left the house..A very dedicated and proud citizen of the US and its military. A great husband and father..I will miss him terribly more than anyone knows.
