Joyce M. (Buckridge) Jacobs
May 1, 1937 - December 2, 2021
Joyce M. Jacobs, 84, passed away at home on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, after a brief illness. Joyce was born in Fremont, Nebraska on May 1, 1937, to Ray and Ruth (Thomas) Buckridge. She graduated high school from Fremont Senior High in 1955. On August 31, 1955, she married Robert "Jake" Jacobs, and together they had four daughters and enjoyed 60 years of married life together.
She was a successful floral and bridal business owner in Fremont. In 1976, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and opened the first full service bridal shop there, named J'Maries Bridal Shoppe. They worked together all day, every day and used their joint talents to run a successful business for over 40 years.
She loved the Lord and saw his beauty every day in nature, landscapes & flowers. She was an accomplished artist, seamstress, quilter, creative floral designer, and businesswoman. She was a member of the Lincoln Artist Guild and Capitol City Christian Church for 45 years and was generous in sharing her time and talents wherever she was able without waiting to be asked. Together, Bob & Joyce welcomed everyone into their home and often shared meals with friends, family and others showing their Christian love. Her family was most important to her and befriended everyone she met.
Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Dawn Jacobs, Lincoln, Peggy Clagett (Tim), Lincoln, Pat Ruppert (Butch), Sorrento, LA, Jenny Stewart (Stan), Fremont; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and many caring nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband and parents.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends.
I remember her sweet personality and I was a florist after graduation and I also purchased my wedding gown from her. I do remember the wonderful bridal shows that she was always doing & loved to go to those events just to see what was new.
I know I miss her as well as many others and I had coincidentally just thought of her in Dec. 2021 but, didn't see the article until Feb 2022.
Happy Heavenly Valentines Joyce! Much Love and always an admirer.

Can't imagine any of us not having a few good stories, mine is that she was just like a 2nd mom to any of us who were friends of her children, a fun and loving one at that.

Such great memories I have. Your mom shared my grandmother Knipe. We lived at 1904 N.Clarkson.She would stay with Gram while my folks went to Minnesota in the summer. I also graduated with your Dad. so we kept in touch. Treasure all the great memories you girls have and remember I treasure mine.
