Mark Wolfe Obituary

Mark Alan Wolfe

January 3, 1952 - November 20, 2023

His lord said to him, well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler of many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. Matthew 25:23

Mark Alan Wolfe, of Lincoln Nebraska, went to his eternal reward on Monday November 20, 2023. He passed due to complications following a successful stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma.

Mark was born January 3, 1952, in Columbus Nebraska. He married Marjorie Kohlmeier of Columbus on June 29, 1974, and they settled in Lincoln where they have resided for the last 49 years. Mark worked as a police officer for the city of Lincoln from 1973 through 2002. After taking early retirement he continued in law enforcement working for the State of Nebraska Insurance Fraud Prevention unit. He fully retired in 2019 and spent his remaining years enjoying traveling with Marge, adding stamps to his National Park Passport, camping with family and friends, and spending time enjoying his seven grandchildren. He was a man of God, faithful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. We will miss him dearly but take heart that he is in the welcoming arms of Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife Marge and his two children, Ben and his wife Lyn (Klein) and their two daughters and two sons, and Lori and her husband Chad Beerenstrauch along with their daughter and two sons. He is also survived by his mother Erna (Sommer) Wolfe, brother Tom, sisters Marcia, Lisa and her husband Steve Krings, Sandra and her husband Jesse Siffring, and sister-in-law Kathy (Engle) along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father DeVerne and brother Jeff.

A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM at Christ Lincoln, 4325 Sumner St., Lincoln, Nebraska on Monday November 27, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Hope Feeding Program or American Cancer Society.

Mark left a legacy of kindness and love to all who knew him! He will never be forgotten and his life is an inspiration to us all. I remember running with him in the mornings, the police station to N Street to South 27th street and back. Same route every time. Mark ALWAYS outlasted me . Great memories!

While at NU I did a ride along with Mark. He was a big reason I joined LPD. Mark touched many lives daily with his service, humor and gentleness. Mark was a blessed example of a strong Christian when he would greet us every Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church

I just read about Mark this morning. I´m sorry I missed his service. Marge and family, I am so sorry for not only your loss, but for the loss of all who were lucky enough to know him. I worked with him my entire career and while a very few may have matched his humor, warmth, and kindness, I don´t know anyone that surpassed it. My daughter even liked him when he worked her accident, even though she received a ticket. I can´t imagine the suffering he went through with his cancer. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago with the same cancer, only I was lucky enough to have the lowest level called smoldering. I only have to see Dr. Dunder and get tested every 6 months now. While he said it will never go away, I have read extensively about it and know all the symptoms. Knowing Mark, I´m sure he made it the easiest on your family as he could. Prayers and love to you all. pj

Mark was an amazing good natured man. I talked to Mark about a month ago. He had his usual smile and I had no idea he was sick until I asked him what he had planned. He was upbeat and optimistic about his surgery. Not once did he look for sympathy! Mark will be missed!!

To the family of Mark,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathies at the loss of Mark. I had numerous conversations with him in discussion of his Mother and possible placement at Meridian Gardens. He was always so kind to me on the phone and the evidence of love that he had for his Mom was obvious. I hope the Lord helps you all through your grieving and helps heal the loss in your heart. God bless you all.

Mark served his Lord and community with love and passion. A man of God who I was grateful to know. He will leave a large hole at Christ and in his family. May our Lord comfort his family and friends. Mary Betten

I'm so sorry to hear this, but knowing who Mark was, he's with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that is comforting to know. I remember seeing Mark in the early morning attending the men's Bible studies at Church every week.
He was also a wonderful volunteer around our Church. He has painted many room's and multiple hallways. He was always so kind and cheerful and said good morning every time I saw him around the building. Indeed, well done my faithful servant describes Mark. Our love to the family.
