Mickey Roscoe Obituary

Mickey Alan Roscoe

June 4, 1964 - November 8, 2024

Our hero, Mickey Alan Roscoe, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 60, after a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. A beloved father, husband, and friend, he served as a dedicated firefighter and paramedic with Lincoln Fire and Rescue for 28 years, devoting his life to protecting and caring for others with unwavering courage, sacrifice, and loyalty.

Mickey was born on June 4, 1964, in Grand Island; a 1982 graduate from Central City High School and a 1987 graduate from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In both his personal and professional life, he inspired others with his commitment, warmth, and strength. Mickey was a passionate sports fan, especially of the Huskers, New York Yankees, and the Washington Commanders. On game days, his energy and excitement could light up a room. He loved the game of golf, enjoying local courses, the Sandhills, and a memorable bucket-list trip to Pebble Beach. Mickey also tore up the bowling lanes, coming close to a perfect game many times, earning high series scores, and proudly displaying his trophies. Bowling was a sport he competed in for nearly 50 years.

Throughout his childhood, college years, and beyond, Mickey was known for his steadfast loyalty to his friends. He was a true friend, maintaining lasting friendships over the years, and was a friend to everyone he met. But above all, Mickey was a devoted family man. He was the best dad in the world, always present for his family and the activities that mattered to them. He never missed a game or event, making it clear that his family was his greatest priority and joy. His love and unwavering support will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mickey leaves behind his wife of 30 years Karla Roscoe, children Taylor (Ryan) Jones, Grant Roscoe, and Mitchell (Ashley) Harmon, parents Wendell and Judy Roscoe, sisters Mindi (Larry) Hoback and Mia (Darrin) Wyatt. Mickey was preceded in death by grandparents Jim and Janet McMahon, Alfred and Clara Roscoe, and father-in-law Henry "Hank" Greff. We will miss him forever, but his impact will live on as a guiding light for all who knew him.

As a former FF/Paramedic myself, I know your loved one has a special place in heaven for the work he did helping others, while often risking his own life. As it was said: "Greater love hath no man, that he give/risk his life for another." What an honor for Mickey to enter the eternal brotherhood. Praying for peace for you, his family, and his "other" brothers and sisters from fire department/EMS services worldwide.
