When we were children and my sister Nancy would smile, she would give the biggest *possible* smile, big enough for the whole world to enjoy. In that smile was a natural way of being that I feel I derived a lot of my outlook from. For that, I'm forever grateful.
I tried to tell her something along these lines during the earlier stages of her illness in the Autumn. I'd been with her for a few weeks, and it was time for me to get back to my home. I was going to make a little heartfelt speech, how I learned so much from her while growing up. When I started with that, before I could elaborate, she cut me right off with a wry smile and said, "I am sooo sorry about that." We all just laughed, and I left it at that. What could be a better send off than sharing a laugh?
Though there will be many bitter moments of missing talking with her, in some ways she isn't gone at all. Like how no past tense phrasing can depict as accurately as the active: "Nancy dances."

I remember her when she was living in the Arapahoe Village apartment and love for her cats. I consider her a good friend.
