Robert (Bob) (Outdoor Bob) Robinson
Bob was born near the Golden Gate Bridge right after the mid-twentieth century. Four years later his favorite (and only) sister, Janet, was born.
Growing up, Bob, with his family, lived in several of the states West of the Rockies. The family was blessed with love and experiences that showed the strength of an experiment in welcoming all. Public education and public libraries were important to Bob and family.
In 1966, Bob's father, John, died in his home state of Oregon. Trudy (Bob's mother) moved the family to her hometown, Omaha. Trudy/Tootie was a model of the Golden Rule.
Bob was a Benson graduate and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska. Bob worked in downtown Lincoln and loved it! He met Jennifer Rose at KZUM Community Radio and loved her more!
Bob enjoyed the friendship of so many that their names are numbered in the stars. His extended family members include those last names of Barnes, Sanford, Clark, Youngman, Winkelhake, Twyman, Pachman, Parker and of course, Lyons and the "out-laws".
Bob is to be cremated. He requested no service.
Bob would like family and friends to keep doing good things for other people.
Special appreciation to HoriSun Hospice, Methodist Hospital (6 North Team), St. Elizabeth's Hospital and to Dr. Matthew Shupe of Nebraska Hematology Oncology.

I just learned of Bob´s death. I remember Bob fondly as the face of warm welcome at the downtown YMCA. Bob was always positive, friendly and cared about and for all people
I remember showing up at the Y on snowy days and Bob would be outside shoveling the sidewalks ... in short pants and sandals. He knew sports and particularly histories of bicycle manufacturers.
Intelligent, caring, wise and warm. He set an example for thousands of people ... I am one. He will be forever remembered by me!

Bob, I really think you saved me a few times when my bike chain broke, or when I needed help with a seat adjustment. You were a great dude. Thanks for attending the Rat Bike Shows in Havelock. It was a blast to have you as a Neighboor in the Near South.

I am super sad to hear about Outdoor Bob passing. I met him when he lived downtown in that gorgeous house and was barefoot at the bike shop. My funniest memory is when I was dating a guy who lived with him. We were young and naive and Bob brought us to the livingroom to discuss basically the birds and the bees! So embarrassing yet so endearing because Bob was giving us the story!! He was like a big brother I think of him fondly for that instance and for always being kind and happy! Keep riding Bob!

The first time I saw a real, honest-to-goodness bone-shaker was when Outdoor Bob rode it out of the bike shop (on 13th?). When I think of Lincoln, that is the iconic image from the mid-80s that I still think about.
