Ronald H. Reece
January 23, 1932 – June 26, 2022
Ron Reece, 90, of Lincoln passed away on June 26, 2022. Ron was born in Hardin County Iowa on January 23, 1932. He grew up on a farm near the town of Eldora with his parents Gladys and Eb Reece, and his younger brother Barry with whom he had all sorts of mischievous fun while attending country school.
Growing up, Ron enjoyed racing cars and pitching baseball for Whitten High School. He was drafted in 1952 and served in the US Army during the Korean War as a medic in Tokyo. After an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he attended the School of Business in Des Moines, IA.
While in Des Moines, he met Florence Loose, fell in love and they were married on June 13, 1959. Ron worked in billboard sales which brought him to Lincoln, where he settled with Florence and started a family. He briefly owned a service station near Union College but moved on to a long career at Montgomery Wards selling large appliances. Throughout his life, his love for meeting people and his positive outlook served him well.
Ron loved playing golf, and meeting up with friends for coffee or for a five o'clock beer at his favorite bar. Ron had a generous heart and held within it countless family members and friends, and his greatest love was his family; he cherished being a part of their lives.
He is survived by his three children, Renee, Mary (Klaus), Eric (Candi) and grandson Austin, by his brother Barry, sister- and brother-in-law Margie and Don Brown, and by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

I lived across the street from Ron & his family on N. 78th street when I was a kid. He always called me "Todderino" when he saw me and he'd shake my hand with those huge mitts of hands he had. A super nice man. I had a beer with him on occasion at Patty's Pub and we shared a lot of good laughs. He will be missed.

I didn´t realize that Ron had passed away. My sincere condolences. Your Dad will go down in my history as one of my all time favorite customers. I was blessed to serve him a couple beers almost every evening I worked and write his winning keno tickets. He always brought a smile to my face and I know I could do that for him as well.
To you Austin, your Grandfather thought the world of you and I just want you to know that your Grandfather was one of the kindest souls I´ve ever met in my life:)

Ron and his family lived across the street from us growing up. I babysat for them and my dad often golfed with Ron. Then, I ended up working with Ron at Montgomery Ward for years. Ron was such a kind soul and always had a smile on his face. My sympathies to the family.

So sad to read this. Ron was always so positive and upbeat. When my daughter Tyna was born, he always called her "little Rhonda" sure that I named her after him. For many years after Ward's i would see him at the mall or at Patty 's pub. He always had a big smile and tight hug for me. Rest in peace Ron. Now you can get hugs from "little Rhonda" .

Ron was our daughter and son-in-love (Vince and Tami Ganshorn´s) next door neighbor for many years. We didn´t know Ron well personally but he was always friendly to us when we would visit our kids. Ron was very much loved by the Ganshorn family and he was like a 3rd Grandpa to Hannah and Jared. He will be missed greatly by them. May you find comfort in the many memories you have shared with Ron. We are sorry for your loss and we are uplifting your family in prayer at this difficult time.

Ron was our daughter and son-in-love, Vince and Tami Ganshorn´s, next door neighbor. We didn´t know Ron well ourselves, but we would see him when we visited our kids. He was always very friendly. The Ganshorn´s loved Ron so much. He was like a "3rd Grandpa" to Hannah and Jared. Ron held a special place in all of their hearts and he will definitely be missed by them. Cherish the precious memories you have with Ron. Our prayers are with your entire family during this difficult time of loss.
