Thomas (Tom) Brown
February 4, 1933 - December 19, 2025
Thomas (Tom) Hugh Brown, born on February 4, 1933, in Oak Park, IL, went home to his Lord on December 19, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska, of natural causes. He was the son of Leroy and Irene Brown.
Tom was a generous man who loved people and easily connected with everyone he met. He was a great story-teller and an avid sports fan who had the good fortune of being present at game seven to watch the Chicago Cubs win the 2016 World Series. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine (Jeri) Brandsness. Married in 1952, Tom and Jeri shared 62 years together.
He is survived by his two children, Jeff (Jill) Brown of Kansas City, MO, and Kathy (Bryan) Barnell of Eagle, NE. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Patrick (Karleen) Brown of Olathe, KS, Victoria (Josh) Rimes of Overland Park, KS, Catherine Brown of Lenexa, KS, Brett Barnell of Lincoln, NE, Lindsey (Tanner) Christie of Lincoln, NE, and Duncan (Courtney) Barnell of Palmyra, NE; as well as six great grandchildren, Lydia, Tinley, Quentin, Baylor, Haddon and Niall.
After graduation from high school, Tom served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Elmhurst College (Illinois).
Tom had a long career with Square D Company, beginning in 1961, where he held various positions including division controller, plant manager (Lincoln, NE; Columbia, SC; Asheville, NC; Smyrna, TN), Vice President and General Manager, and President of Anderson Products.
A small family-only burial service will be held on January 7, 2026 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Friends and family are welcome to join a celebration-of-life memorial service on January 10, 2026 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room (lower level) at Legacy Estates, 7200 Van Dorn St., Lincoln, NE 68506. A light lunch will be provided following the service.
