Anthony Widmar Obituary

Anthony G. Widmar

November 19, 1930 - August 10, 2025

MOUNT PLEASANT – Mr. Anthony G. "Tounch" Widmar, 94, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family at his side on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

He was born in Kenosha on November 19, 1930, the son of the late Anthony F. and Coltilda (nee Myers) Widmar.

Tony proudly served his nation with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1951-53.

He married Catherine "Katie" Griffiths on May 12, 1984. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2018.

Tony retired from Twin Disc in 1992 after 37 years of service.

He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge 437, the Twin Disc 20 Year Club, the American Legion, and the V.F.W. Post 1391. Tony lived a full life enjoying being in the company of family and friends, breakfast at the Moose, his retired "Romeo" friends, playing cards at the Dish, playing Rummikub with his sons, Saturday movie date night with his daughters, all sports, building many, many puzzles, sharing stories, singing the old tunes and musicals from his youth. And "just one more thing", watching his favorite TV show, Columbo.

Tony is survived by his children, Daniel (BJ Betty Jean) Widmar, James (Karen) Widmar, Shawn (Robert) Luepke, Rick (Linda) Widmar, Laura (Joe) LaMartina, Sandy (David) Bink, David (Audrey) Widmar, John (Eileen) Widmar, Colleen Widmar; the Griffiths children, Michael (JoAnn) Griffiths, Thomas (Susan) Griffiths, Susan (Denis) Weisensel, Cathy (Carl) Newberry, David Griffiths, Patrick (Kirsten) Griffiths, Sally (Jeffrey) LaFaive; 31grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Sharon Woodworth; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Randall Widmar, Deacon William (Joan) Widmar, Gerald (Donna) Widmar, and Katie's son, Charles (Patti) Griffiths.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring Street) on Monday, August 18, 2025, for a visitation from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm. The celebration of his life and memorial Mass will take place at 12:00 pm. His interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to either the Legacy at St. Paul the Apostle or the VFW Post 1391 (820 Main Street Racine, WI 53403).

Anthony's family extends a heartfelt thank you to Aurora At Home Hospice for the loving and professional attention he received while under their care.
